The video’s title ‘In the mood for love’ seems obvious, just listen to the music and you’ll be touched by its romantic mood. But what if I tell you that the highly romantic music in this video is from a film in a totally different genre! The music in my video features segments from the soundtrack of the horror-thriller ‘The return of the invisible man’, a 1940-film directed by Joe May, with one of the earliest roles by Vincent Price, at the time one of the genre’s most famous actors. I’ve never seen the film, (and, frankly, I’m not really interested in old horror movies,) but years ago I bought the music. And it took me by surprise. It’s from the album ‘The monster music of Hans J. Salter & Frank Skinner’, excellently played by the Moscow Symphony Orchestra, conducted by William T. Stromberg. Skinner and Salter were masters in this genre of cinema. I find this music absolutely gorgeous and it has been one of my favourite soundtracks for years. So, if still for sale, then I highly recommend purchasing this music in the best quality on cd. The music is very well written and contains nice, open and hauntingly beautiful melodies you can sing along with instantly (if you wish to), all gorgeously newly orchestrated by John Morgan. John Morgan is also the writer of the liner notes, and he confirms my view concerning the romantic mood, when he writes: “In fact, but for a few moments, the score could have easily been written for a tender romance, not a Universal horror film.” So …

Recently, the rumors of Emma Stone playing main Spider-man love interest Mary Jane Watson were as strong as Peter Parker’s special powers. In an interesting twist, Sony announced that she’ll be playing the other love interest, Gwen Stacey. An official statement had funny anecdotes about how Stone really is more like the Gwen character, even adding that even though she’s currently a redhead like Mary Jane, she’s actually a natural blonde like Gwen! So it’s looking like a whole lot of hair dying will be done for this most recent Spider-man movie because let’s be honest, there aren’t a whole lot of red headed Hollywood actresses who fit the part of MJ and have chemistry with lead actor Andrew Garfield, yatta yatta… Which, btw, makes me want to know who you think will be cast as Mary Jane??
